A recent study by the South Kingstown School Department found deep disparities among our local student populations. For those impacted, inequities can negatively influence academic achievement and social and emotional well-being. Opportunity gaps are strong predictors of educational attainment and lifetime earnings potential.
The JYC is committed to leveling the playing field by opening doors to opportunities many young people in our community might otherwise not experience. Our holistic approach to youth development weaves together out-of-school learning, mentoring, enrichment, and meaningful family engagement. Together, we nurture confidence and foster connection, purpose, and a true sense of belonging for every teen who walks through our doors.

Volunteer
Relationships change lives. The Youth Center relies on dedicated volunteers to lead activities, support homework, share talents, and — most importantly — serve as consistent, caring mentors to our members. Volunteers are carefully vetted through a thorough screening process, including fingerprinting and national background checks, to ensure a safe environment for all youth.
